Community Living Chatham-Kent is recruiting a PLACEMENT SUPERVISOR for the School Days to Pay Days program. This project is designed to assist youth who have an intellectual disability, and/or are at-risk youth in transition gain real-life job experience in a greenhouse during the course of a co-op in the hopes of receiving a real job at completion.
The ideal candidate will have post-secondary certification in the Education field or Human Services. Experience developing curriculum and experience working with young people facing barriers to employment would be an asset. In addition, must possess strong computer skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, be a self-starter, able to work independently, and have the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
Hours: 35 hours per week
This is a 2 year contract position commencing June 2018.
POSITION TITLE: Placement Supervisor
The School Days to Pay Days program is designed to assist youth who have an intellectual disability, and /or are at-risk youth in transition, that are approaching the end of their secondary school academic term, to register into a co-operative education, two-credit course. Real-life job experience in a green house will be provided during the course of the co-op in the hopes of receiving a real job at completion.
The Placement Supervisor will work cooperatively with secondary school instructors to provide students with the required elements to complete the program as identified in their Individual Education Plan. The Placement Supervisor will effectively and decisively manage an assigned support system ensuring overall effectiveness in the areas of person-centred planning, evaluation of satisfaction, and outcomes. The Placement Supervisor will ensure supports are provided in a manner that promotes care, welfare, safety, and security.
1. Related to People Receiving Services and Supports
Provides services that reflect the Agency’s goal, vision, mission, and beliefs
Incorporate and provide transportation for students to and from school to Community Living Chatham-Kent JOBWORX office and co-op placement
Provide time and assistance to students to help them prepare for the workplace as required
Provide opportunities to practise social and workplace skills.

- Enhance self-determination and empowerment through:
· imparting full information/options available;
· supporting follow through on personal decisions;
· providing information on personal rights, how to exercise rights and the resulting responsibilities;
· promotes self-advocacy and advocates for others who have difficulty speaking for themselves;
· fostering independence by encouraging personal growth and learning from life’s experiences and opportunities

2. Related to Policy Development
Ensures all Community Living Chatham-Kent Program Policies, Practices and Procedures, and accreditation standards are communicated and adhered to
Ensures all Ministry of Community and Social Services and other legislative requirements are maintained to standards
Demonstrates creative problem solving and decision making, based on policies and training
3. Related to Human Resources
Promotes a cordial, harmonious, risk-free working atmosphere that is respectful of the contributions of students
Provides a supportive learning environment that facilitates students growth and development while holding people accountable for performance
Participates in student planning meetings with secondary school co-op instructors, and other personnel requested by the school board.
Manages and follows through on change initiatives
Leads others by inspiring confidence in the Agency’s goal, vision, mission, and beliefs
4. Related to Financial Management
Follows established internal control and Accounting policies and procedures
Complete required funding performance reports to the Ministry of Community and Social Services
Anticipates and plans for addressing future program changes, opportunities, and problems. These plans and resulting implementation are in keeping with the strategic direction of the Agency
Possesses an understanding of resource management by making decisions that are efficient and effective
5. Related to Health and Safety
Carries out responsibilities following the recommended guidelines of Community Living Chatham-Kent Health and Safety Policy Statements, the School Boards and co-op placement facilities’ expectations, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ministry of Health, and the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board
Ensures health and safety program requirements are maintained to standards
Promotes a healthy and safe work environment
6. Related to Community Development
Represents Community Living Chatham-Kent in a manner that conveys the culture and philosophy of the agency
Assists in the identification and development of resources and supports in communities
Establishes professional relationships/networks in the field and the community
Promotes inclusive communities
Provides advocacy and promotes self-advocacy
Promotes the full citizenship of students receiving service
Acts as an advocate for change that will help the agency accomplish strategic objectives
Promotes the goal, vision, mission, and beliefs of Community Living Chatham-Kent
7. Related to Documentation
Develop program and resources
Develop and provide presentations related to skills required to work in a greenhouse
Develop an evaluation report of pilot year, and project evaluation report at the end of funding and present report(s) to partners.
Cultivate and share resources and materials developed throughout the project with partners
Develop and provide to partners a progress report each semester
8. Related to Agency Property and Equipment
Ensures all agency, school board, and greenhouse property and equipment is treated with due care and respect
9. Related to Communications
Liaises with parents, guardians, Agency services, staff, and students
Maintains effective working relationships, partnerships or networks of contacts
Continuously updates the Manager on program-related matters and where necessary, will inform the Executive Director of situations which could become contentious for the agency
Cooperates in the coordination and implementation of supports within the Agency to ensure the provision of effective individualized service
10. Related to Committee Functions
Actively participates in meetings and on internal committees as assigned by the Manager
Other related duties as assigned.
Ability to support and meet people at various locations, in a timely manner, throughout Chatham-Kent, is a requirement of this position.
The Placement Supervisor is directly accountable to the JOBWORX Manager.
Normal hours of work are 35 per week, with starting times established by the JOBWORX Manager through the dictates of the program. Considering the professional nature of this position, the Placement Supervisor will attend necessary events outside normal working hours and work a flexed work day as required.

Post-secondary education in Human Services or Education with experience working with young people facing barriers to employment.
